Helen Thul - New Local Recording Artist

Fresh off the release of her debut CD "A Christmas Journey," local Gospel singer Helen Thul will open for Sara Renner at Club 3 Degrees' Christmas concert in Minneapolis, Minnesota December 20, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. Thul's opening performance will include a variety of soulful classics, including select songs from her recently released CD.

...The 600 people in the audience were attentive and enthusiastic, and impressed with the beauty and variety of musical pieces. The first half of the concert featured hand-clapping gospel tunes such as “Prayer of Jabez”, “I Believe”, “I See a World” and “We Worship You” featuring guest soloists Helen Thul and Holly Collison.

...Lucky break of the morning - the campaign guys hadn't typed the name of the person singing the National Anthem on my agenda. Or the person's gender or anything else. I said "And now, for the national anthem by..." ...I looked around, hoping some inspiration would whack me upside the head.

Finally, I saw a woman waving at me from the first row, pointing at herself. Well and good - but I still didn't know her name. "Ah, here we go - the national anthem, sung...by..." The woman stood, so I could see the name placard on the back of her seat. "...Helen Thul!"

She was amazing, by the way.
