About Helen Thul.

A native of Centerville, Illinois, Helen Thul moved to the Twin Cities in 1979, where she continued her love for singing in the church. She attributes her strong gospel flair to her childhood experience in the church.

Ms. Thul began her Twin cities debut singing for Your Church of the Air, an inspirational television broadcast of KSTP. She has performed as background vocals with Thelma Buckner and the Minnesota Gospel Twins, About Helen Thul photothe Sam Davis Gospel Ensemble, Robert "Eddie" Robinson and Friends, Minneapolis Gospel Sound, and Living Word Christian Center Singers. Ms. Thul has performed on stage with great musicians such as Andrae and Sandra Crouch, Dorcas Speed, Bobby McFerrerin (in the St. Paul Chamber orchestra's production of Porgy and Bess), Carmen, Phil Driscoll, Julie Fitch, CeCe Winnans and Minnesota's first Family of Jazz- the Peterson Family.

Ms. Thul's unique flair for Gospel and the soul of Jazz along with her expression of love through music has been a catalyst in developing her style as an artist. Jazz and pop artist Tom West, John Andrew, Mary Louis Knutson and Kenny Cohen have witnessed Ms. Thul in action when given the microphone. They all declare that she is phenomenal.

In 1983, 1984 and 1986 Ms. Thul received awards and acknowledgements as a recipient of the Minnesota Black Musicians Award for best gospel group though her work as a vocalist with Robert "Eddie" Robinson and Friends.

Her spirit, attitude and voice embody her message to the world - a message that begs to be heard. She brings the melody to any occasion.
